A group buy organized by Drive Electric Northern Colorado (DENC) helps bring the price of the BMW i3 down to $25,000 from the standard base MSRP of $44,000.

The association negotiated $6,000 off the price of the i3 with a BMW dealership in Loveland, Colorado. Combined with the Federal tax savings of up to $7,500 and the Colorado state tax incentive of up to $6,000, it brings the cost down to $24,944.

DENC is trying to repeat the success it had earlier this year with a similar initiative which brought the cost of the Nissan LEAF down to $10,623 from $32,130 (before incentives).

The only “catch” seems to be the need to use BMW Financial Services Owner’s Choice program to finance the vehicle in order to have access to the deal.

Nonetheless, it’s a very interesting intiative worth looking into for local EV associations.
