7 OEM charging network venture IONNA names CEO, commences operations in North America

Seven months after seven major OEMs shared plans to join forces and implement a new EV charging network of over 30,000 piles in North America, the joint venture, now called IONNA, has officially received regulatory approval to begin operations. The JV has also named its first CEO, who is no stranger to EV charging.

Hyundai and Kia are teaming up with Samsung to save EV owners time and money through connected car and home services. Through a new agreement, Hyundai (and Kia) will use Samsung’s “SmartThings” IoT platform in their connected car services. This way, you can control home devices like air conditioning and lights directly from your car. Or, from home, you can warm your vehicle and adjust charging times.
