Kia’s EV push is paying off with a full lineup from entry-level electric SUVs to vans

Kia’s growing lineup of electric vehicles, ranging from affordable SUVs to vans, helped power the automaker to its best first-half sales performance on record.

Kia’s EVs drive record growth in the first half of 2026

Kia is selling more vehicles than ever, partly thanks to its growing lineup of all-electric models. The Korean automaker now offers an EV for just about everyone, from the low-cost EV2 and EV3 to the three-row EV9. Kia’s first electric van, the PV5, is quickly becoming a global hit.

In the first half of 2026, Kia sold over 1.63 million vehicles, its highest since it began selling automobiles in 1962.

Kia has now posted year-over-year (YOY) global sales growth for four consecutive months, driven by “region-specific electrified vehicle strategies,” the company said.

In the US, hybrid SUVs helped Kia achieve its best-ever first-half sales in 2026, while in Europe and the UK, mass-market EVs are driving record growth.

Kia’s fully electric vehicles accounted for about 30% of sales in the UK, with 18,241 registered in the first half of the year.

With a lineup ranging from the EV2, EV3, EV4, EV5, EV6, and EV9, plus the PV5 van, Kia offers an all-electric option for nearly everyone.

Kia is one of seven brands with EVs that qualify for the maximum Government Electric Car Grant (ECG), including the EV2, EV3, EV4, and PV5 Passenger.

With the £3,750 ($5,000) grant, the EV2 long-range model now starts at just £24,245 ($32,500) on the road.

While Kia has no plans to sell the EV2 in the US, the popular EV3 is set to go on sale by the end of 2026.

The EV3 will join the EV6 and EV9 in Kia’s all-electric lineup. It will be available in five trims: Light, Wind, Land, GT-Line, and GT. Kia will offer two battery pack options. 58.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh, which Kia estimates will provide ranges of 220 miles and 320 miles (FWD models), respectively.

Kia will reveal prices closer to launch, but the 2027 EV3 is expected to start at about $35,000 or less, making it one of the most affordable EVs in the US.

Through June, Kia sold 7,035 EV9 models in the US, up 42% from the same period in 2025. Sales of the EV6 are down 31% to 4,043 units.

Kia is dropping the Niro EV from its US lineup and will only sell the hybrid version, with the EV3 set to replace it in 2027.
