If you are like me, you can’t wait to get a closer look at Tesla’s next-generation Roadster, but as we learned last week, it appears not to be a priority for Tesla as they focus on the base Model 3 and Model Y.
Nonetheless, the automaker still decided to showcase the prototype in an episode of Jay Leno’s Garage – giving us new pictures and videos of the upcoming electric supercar.
We had the feeling that Tesla CEO Elon Musk didn’t want to put too much emphasis on the new Roadster right now since it is not the focus of the development team.
But the CEO still talked a little about the car in a new interview last week and now Tesla made the prototype available for a showcase on Jay Leno’s Garage.
The episode is going to air on Thursday and it looks like Leno is going to discuss the vehicle with non-other than Tesla Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen.
Some promo videos and images are giving us another rare look at the prototype:
Outside of Tesla’s promotional content and one sighting in the wild, it’s one of the rare occasions where we can see the Roadster prototype in good lighting.
At the unveiling event last year, it was quite dark and we couldn’t get a good look at a bunch of features, including the mysterious back seat, which is still not visible here.
Hopefully, it will be something that they discuss on the episode later this week.
There was also a shot at that butterfly steering wheel of the prototype Roadster:
That’s something we discussed last week because it will be hard for Tesla to bring the feature to market due to regulatory restrictions.
What is interesting from this picture is that we can see what appears to be buttons on the steering wheel – something we haven’t seen before.
We are going to have to wait until Thursday at 10PM to get more:
