Tesla Model 3 spotted with a new color: Gray

The possible color options for Tesla’s upcoming Model 3 are expanding yet again.

With this latest sighting of a dark gray Model 3, it now brings the total to 7 different colors spotted on Model 3 vehicles to date.

As we previously reported, Tesla confirmed that they plan to limit the number of configurations to fewer than 100 compared to the Model S’ more than 1,500 different configurations.

When adding just one color, you multiply the configurations by the number of options and considering that Model S is currently offered in 7 colors, it’s unlikely that the Model 3 will be offered with the same number of color options.

Model 3 prototypes have been spotted in white, black, silver, red, blue, and even a Signature red.

Now Brian Armer caught a glimpse of a new dark gray Model 3 near Tesla’s Palo Alto headquarters and posted this picture to Twitter:

It’s definitely a new color for the Model 3, but it could be the same Midnight Silver offered on Model S and Model X. It’s almost impossible to tell from just one angle and under just one light.

It would bring the total of different colors spotted on Model 3 vehicles to 7, if you count the Signature red – though if it actually makes it to production, it will likely be for the “something special” for early reservation holders that CEO Elon Musk promised.

So far, the only color virtually confirmed to be available on the production version is black since it’s the color of the first production unit (VIN0001). As for the rest, we will likely have to wait for the July 28th unveiling in order to know for sure.

In the meantime, let’s bring back our poll to see which color is now the most popular with the addition of gray.
