Tesla officially launched the Model X online design studio in Europe today. Until now, it was only available to reservation holders or people in North America. Now you can configure the all-electric SUV and get accurate pricing information and a delivery timeline based on your location in Europe.
It is not cheap. Earlier this month, Tesla increased the base price of the Model X by replacing the 70 kWh battery pack, which until now was Tesla’s most affordable battery option, with a 75 kWh battery pack.
It increased the base price in the US to $83,000 (from $80,000) before incentives and taxes.
Tesla adjusts the price of its vehicles internationally according to the exchange rate and then include the country’s import fees, tax, and registration. The price of the Model X will depend on VAT on EVs in your country and other associated fees.
The exchange rate can also be painful.
You can visit the Model X design studio here – change the country at the bottom before configuring the vehicle. Tesla Model X’s for Europe are reportedly entering production now and deliveries are set to start in the next few months.

The other day, Tesla revealed that they’re paying under $190/kWh for the batteries. That means going from 70 -> 75 kWh only increased the cost to Tesla by $950. And yet they bumped the price by $3000.
I understand that it’s supply vs demand and all that… they can only produce cars so fast, meaning supply is low, so they can charge a lot… but it still sucks. Makes you feel like you’re being ripped off.
You should not feel like you are ripped off. How much would be enough for you? 10% profit? While this sounds great, 10% is not good enough for them to grow and expand in way I want them. I am more then happy to pay that price and in a way get my future a bit better by giving them that money. I understand there is people out there that dont care about anything just best return on money, but in my case, thats not the case. I would even be more then happy to pay more for MODEL 3 – just to give them more money to speed up things and get it done faster.
Design studio is open, so long as you’re in a left hand drive market. It seems the UK will (again) have to wait a little longer.
