While North American fleets continue to drag their fleet on electric, the rest of the world is charging ahead. As if to prove that fact, Chinese equipment brand SANY delivered 200 heavy-duty electric haul trucks and more than 600 electric wheel loaders. In a single month. (!)
SANY took to LinkedIn to announce that the heavy equipment brand had shipped 200 electric dump trucks and 403 electric wheel loaders to customers all over the world – and that number doesn’t include the company’s growing line up of electric reach-stackers, electric semi trucks, or electric excavators (among other things).
“Our electric range continues to grow as more customers look for ways to reduce emissions and operate more sustainably,” reads the SANY post, on LinkedIn. “We’re proud to offer a growing selection of high-quality machinery across both electric and diesel, giving our customers more options to find the right machine for their needs.”
Rolling proof

Many of SANY’s electric equipment options use a massive, swappable 550 kWh battery pack that enables construction and mining crews the ability to keep the Earth moving and the wheels turning with greater efficiency than diesel, while helping to stabilize the grid in whatever region they’re deployed – and that is rapidly becoming a lot of regions!
SANY is also working on a number of autonomous products, as well – from the fully cab-less SKT145Ei electric heavy haul trucks shown at SANY’s Global Mining Key Customer Summit in Xi’an to the 100,000 electric semi trucks it’s planning to build with Pony.ai.
All of which is to say: the West needs to stop playing around with time-wasting side-quests like hydrogen, and get busy electrifying its commercial fleets in a big way if it plans to stay in business for much longer.
