Polestar just announced the largest product offensive in the company’s history, with plans to bring four new electric vehicles to market in the next three years — including a new SUV and the return of the entry-level Polestar 2!
While parent company Volvo seems to hesitate about what to do with its new XC70 long-range PHEV, all-electric ES90 flagship sedan, and station wagon body styles in general, Polestar knows exactly what it’s doing: going full speed ahead!
The company announced this morning that customer deliveries of the Polestar 5 halo car were on-track to begin this summer, followed shortly by a new long-roof variant of the Polestar 4 in Q4. The really big news, however, was the announcement of an updated Polestar 2 planned for launch early in 2027 and an all-new Polestar 7 SUV set to follow in early 2028.
“Polestar 2 is the foundation of our brand, with over 190,000 cars sold and an enthusiastic community of customers,” explains Polestar CEO, Michael Lohscheller. “Bringing the next generation of this iconic car in record speed, by the start of next year, is very exciting. The car that we became known for will play a key role of our future success.”
“With Polestar 7,” continues Lohscheller, “we are entering the largest EV segment in Europe, the compact SUV segment, which accounts for approximately one-third of total BEV volumes in 2025. We are convinced that we can offer customers a progressive performance-driven car for a very attractive price point, built in Europe.”
Despite shifting incentives and a “challenging” political and economic environment made more so by continually changing tariff threats, Polestar delivered its best sales year ever in 2025, and expects to deliver low double-digit retail volume growth as the sales mix continues to evolve with an increasing share of Polestar 4 and the arrival of 5 in the coming months.
Electrek’s Take

As a huge fan of Volvo and the current owner of a plug-in XC90 it’s hard for my neighbors to make me jealous of their rides — but the powder blue Polestar 4 parked in front of the Monaco’s last Sunday stopped me in my tracks. The rear window delete looks slick in person, the stance and size of the thing are just right, and the “Electron” paint (the blue’s official name) is perfect.
If Polestar really does bring out a proper shooting brake variant of the 4, and in some real colors, I don’t think I’ll be able to resist it.
