Italian design firm Pininfarina and sustainable living solutions developer AC Future have expanded on an existing partnership and delivered an exciting debut at CES for a second consecutive year. Designed by Pininfarina, AC Future has unveiled three initial products it intends to bring to market, including “AI Transformer Home Unit,” “AI Transformer Home Trailer,” and “AI Transformer Home Drivable.”
AC Future is an Irvine, California, startup that emerged from stealth in 2023. According to the company, its mission is to “ignite a revolution in sustainable living by crafting innovative, transformable homes that seamlessly blend modern design, eco-conscious principles, and cutting-edge AI technologies.”
That journey begins with AC Future’s flagship product, the AI-Transformable Home, a modular solar-electric RV. The AI-TH project was developed with the help of renowned design firm Pininfarina and launched in January 2024.
AC Future initially unveiled its AI-TH RV concept at CES 2024, which caught the eye of Hydra Design Labs. The two companies would form a partnership to help bring the startup’s concept to fruition. The completed concept from Pininfarina’s initial design was recently teased by AC Future in December 2024, ahead of CES 2025 in Las Vegas.
Today, we have learned the original concept has evolved into three separate products AC Future intends to bring to market, beginning with the AI-THu seen below.
AC Future unveils its sustainable home collection at CES
With design partner Pininfarina, AC Future has unveiled its new product lineup based on the original AT-TH concept, which debuted a year ago. The three products sit atop the same modular platform, offering off-grid living capabilities in different forms.
AC Future’s market entry will begin with the AI-THu, or AI Transformer Home Unit (seen above). The AI-THu is an AI-enabled sustainable smart home that expands to offer 400 square feet of interior living space, including a 40-square-foot outdoor patio. It is built onto a stationary base platform, making it the only semi-permanent home of the three.
The interior’s main living area can be repurposed as a lounge, office, or additional bedroom. The master bedroom, accessed privately, features extendable wardrobe storage. The AI-THu comes equipped with AI smart home technology, solar panels, energy storage, a water generator, and premium appliances and starts at $98,000 for the base model.
In addition to the AI-THu, AC Future, and Pininfarina also unveiled the AI-THt (AI Transformer Home Trailer), as seen above. The AI-THt is a 24-foot-long transforming travel trailer that, like its THu sibling, expands to 400 square feet of internal living space using the company’s patented tech. Be sure to watch it expand in the video below. Per the press release:
Unlike traditional trailer homes, the AI-THt does not require a front driving cabin, resulting in a more spacious and premium interior environment that doubles in size when fully expanded. The exterior design of the AI-THt interprets architectural design elements, blending aesthetic sophistication with aerodynamic efficiency to improve towing performance and range. The result is a sleek, moving habitat that harmoniously merges with its environment.
AC Future has not yet shared pricing for the AI-THt, but it looks like it could do well if it comes to fruition and tries to compete against similar trailers from fellow startups like Pebble and Lightship.
Last but not least is the startup’s third mobility product, the AI-THd (AI TransformerHome Drivable), which we reported on last month. Pininfarina completed the original design for AC Future’s corporate launch at CES 2024, but it has evolved into an intelligent, self-sufficient, drivable version of that initial concept.
The company said it expanded the AI-THd from a small recreational vehicle into an ample mobile living space, providing future customers with more off-grid freedom and the modularity to set up a mobile home in minutes after parking.
The startup says the interior will feature flexible living spaces where the cockpit can be easily converted into a mobile office or secondary bedroom. The AI-THd will have similar AI-enabled smart technologies to the other two models detailed above. There is no pricing on this electric RV yet either, but AC Future co-CEO Laura Czarnecki did share some production timelines:
We look forward to showcasing our AI-THu, AI-THt, and AI-THd designs and AI technologies during the upcoming 2025 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Customers can begin placing reservations for our products, with initial deliveries expected in Q4 2026. Our team believes these products will revolutionize housing and provide an AI-enabled solution to the American affordable and sustainable housing crises. The Pininfarina designs will provide customers with a modern, luxurious design complimented by our AI smart home technologies, enhancing everyone’s living experience.
If you’re at CES, you can see the startup’s products in the North Hall, Booth 10515. Reservations for all three products are now open as well. See more in AC Future’s video below:
