Volvo EV owners can now charge at Tesla Superchargers

Volvo Cars is opening access to Tesla Superchargers in the US and Canada for its EVs, including its new EX90 flagship SUV.

Charging at Tesla Superchargers and other North American Charging Standard (NACS) chargers will be enabled by an adapter included with the purchase of a new Volvo EX90 flagship SUV, EX40, or EC40 EV starting with model year 2025.

Current fully electric Volvo owners can pre-order NACS adapters at Volvo dealers in the US and Canada for $230 USD or $310 CAD, with shipping starting November 18, 2024. Adapter availability for the EX30 will be announced later.

Volvo’s app helps drivers find public EV charging stations, checks charging station availability and pays for charging sessions, all on a single interface. Google Assistant in the car’s infotainment system can also find charging stations and give directions.

“We want to make life with an electric car as seamless as possible,” said Mike Cottone, president of Volvo Car USA and Canada. “Opening up access to Tesla Superchargers is a big step toward providing easy and convenient charging for Volvo drivers in North America, supporting our commitment to expanding EV adoption.”
