Polestar’s new Concept BST to make global debut at Goodwood and 6 Concept will do a hillclimb

BEV manufacturer Polestar will once again participate in the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed, and the 2024 event will display several current and concept models. That lineup includes the global debut of the Concept BST, a new variant based on the upcoming Polestar 6 that teases a future variant from Polestar’s performance line.

2024 marks Polestar’s third consecutive year participating in the UK’s annual Goodwood Festival of Speed, and the EV automaker has a habit of showing off new technology during the event’s famous hill climb.

In 2022, it debuted a Polestar 5 prototype up the hill, showcased a new roadster concept that would become known as the Polestar 6, and also brought a track-friendly version of the 2 called the BST Edition 270, which we got a chance to test drive a few months later.

A year later, Polestar was back in the UK to show off an updated version of the 5 prototype and its new 3 SUV up the hill in front of the crowd. That lineup was also joined by another performance variant of the Polestar 2, the BST Edition 230.

Carrying on the trend, Polestar is back at Goodwood in 2024 with a global debut of a new performance concept and intends to show off the BEV’s capabilities by climbing the hill in a separate version.

For this year’s event, Polestar will have more models on display than ever, including the flagship 2 sedan, plus the Polestar 3 and 4 SUVs, which are just starting to ramp up initial production. Joining the 3 and 4 in Goodwood’s first look paddock will be the Polestar 6 Concept, marking its dynamic debut as the automaker intends to send it up the hill with hopes of an impressive time.

According to Polestar, however, the star of this year’s show will be a new performance variant of the 6 called the Concept BST. It features bespoke bodywork, flared arches, 22-inch extra-wide forged alloy wheels, and a deployable rear wing. Check it out.

While all versions of the Polestar 6 we’ve seen to date remain concepts, the new BST edition suggests that a track-centric performance variant will be in the plans when the production version launches in 2026.

From the look of it, Polestar is genuinely leaning into the track performance aspect of the design from which the brand originated, particularly with its BST-badged BEVs. Per Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath:

Now we are a brand with three models in production it’s great to see them here together for the first time at a global event. Goodwood Festival of Speed is full of the most exciting cars and the most enthusiastic crowds, so it’s the perfect place for us to tease our  Polestar Concept BST. This car is a demonstration of how far we can push  our performance brand – Polestar turned up to 11 if you will – and a demonstration of how we could apply the BST formula to our lineup in the  future.

Unfortunately, that “demonstration” of the Concept BST will merely be an up-close look at Polestar’s main stand at Goodwood following its global debut during the festival. However, a separate Polestar 6 concept will be doing a hill climb at Goodwood this week, showing off the developing roadster’s capabilities in what its makers describe as ” the pinnacle of the current Polestar lineup.”

In addition to its presence at the first glance paddock, the Polestar 4 will be available for test drives at Electric Avenue. The 2024 Goodwood Festival runs July 11-14. The Polestar 2, 3, and 4 are all on sale in the US now.
