Spring has sprung and a new 2018 Nissan Leaf popped up in Germany. As you can see in the photos the next generation model looks refreshed and more modern.
Las month, we reported on the first sightings of the much anticipated next generation LEAF, but it was covered with a garbage bag-looking type of camouflage. These new photos of the next-gen Leaf, which surfaced on this German forum site, shows a still heavily camouflaged car, but we get a better look than last time.
The photos show an edgier and more sporty design with broader shoulders and a sloping roofline. The new Leaf is expected to incorporate the new Vmotion design language with boomerang-shaped headlights and sweeping glass along the c pillar, also found in other models such as the Maxima and Murano.
The difference between the old and new version of the Leaf is perhaps most obvious at the back where a raised trunk line is clearly visible – pictured above. Expect the new Leaf to offer significantly more trunk space than the current model.
The interior has received an update as well, even though it is hard to see in these photos.
Apart from the updated design, one of the most anticipated features of the new Nissan Leaf will be the increased battery. A 60kWh pack should be good for at least 200 miles of driving on a single charge. Expected pricing of around $35,000 for the new Leaf, should put it into direct competition with cars like the Chevy Bolt BEV.
As we reported earlier, the new Leaf should be revealed sometime in September of this year and deliveries should be taking place soon thereafter.
It was spotted at one of the charging locations in the Siegburg area close to Cologne. (Photo credits to i300):
