Tesla CEO Elon Musk is a little late to publish his ‘Part 2’ of the ‘Tesla Secret Master Plan’, which he hoped to reveal last week, but it looks like it was pushed to today. He was a little busy overseeing the successful Falcon 9 launch and landing in Cape Canaveral last night, and the ongoing Dragon mission.

The plan is expected to outline Tesla’s future product lineup as the company transitions from a transportation company to an energy company. In line with the transition, Tesla finally moved its main domain ‘teslamotors.com’ to its recently acquired ‘tesla.com’ over the weekend.

Until recently, ‘tesla.com’ was redirecting traffic to ‘teslamotors.com’, but now it is the other way around – making ‘tesla.com’ the company’s main website.

Tesla finally managed to acquire the premium domain in February in a deal with Stuart Grossman, who owned the domain name for almost two decades.

In the months since the acquisition, Tesla has been transitioning its internal email addresses to ‘tesla.com’ and the fact that it is now its main website could mean that the move is complete.

Some are also speculating that it symbolizes Tesla’s previously mentioned transition from transportation company to an energy company – with ‘Tesla’ being the main company operating its ‘Tesla Motors’ division for vehicles and its ‘Tesla Energy’ division for stationary energy storage and potential solar installations if its bid to acquire SolarCity is successful.

As you can see above, Tesla’s website still heavily represents its vehicle business, but there’s also an energy aspect to the site which is hosted on ‘tesla.com/energy‘, but also redirected from ‘teslaenergy.com‘.

Interestingly, we reported earlier today that Tesla hired a new digital retail expert earlier this month.

We should have a much better idea of Tesla’s plans once Elon Musk publishes the second part of the ‘Secret Master Plan’ hopefully later today.
