Tesla released an interesting albeit short video of its giant robots installing a Falcon Wing door on the Model X assembly line in Fremont, California.
The automaker rarely release videos of its assembly lines, which are highly automated with impressive robots named after comic book superheroes, but when it does it’s always a treat.

In this latest video posted to Instagram, Tesla gives us a glimpse of the Falcon Wing door assembly process in which we can see several robots working simultaneously on the vehicle.
When Tesla completed its second assembly line to enable Model X production last year, Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed that the production line was equipped with 542 robots including 15 operating simultaneously at the central assembly point.

Context: Ex-GM Bob Lutz saying “The Model X appears to be unbuildable with those automatic gull-wing doors”. Also at least one pundit on Seeking Alpha doubting Tesla’s statement that Model X production was “quite dialed in” and claiming that the cars were being assembled by hand last year and that may still be the case.
