Based on registration data, Tesla’s Model S sales were exactly flat in Norway last year versus 2014 –  4,039 units each year. The company’s overall sales in the country are likely to grow this year when it starts delivering the Model X later in the year, but in the meantime, it is interesting to see how Model S sales are doing in one of Tesla’s most important market and one of the rare market in which the company didn’t grow last year.

Registration data came in today for the first month of the year and revealed that 105 new Tesla Model S’s were registered in Norway in January. It represents a 48% increase over the same period last year, but 20% less than the January high of 132 cars in 2014.

Last year, Tesla had a difficult first quarter with each month seeing lower deliveries than the same period in 2014. The company only managed to catch up to its 2014 numbers during the last month of the year with a solid performance December.

The company is till showing signs of major delivery blitzes toward the end of the quarter, especially the end of Q1:Tesla reg norway 2016 janIt will be interesting to see how it will play out in March since during the same period in the last 2 years, Tesla delivered over 1,000 Model S’s.

The Norwegian government decided to keep its generous incentives in effect until the end of 2017, which will certainly help Tesla’s sales in the country, but on the negative side of things, fluctuating currency rates could soon result in price increases in Norway.

With all this sale data you are collecting, it would be nice if you could show a statistic of cars sold per capita. It think that would be much more interesting than raw data.
