Tesla has a presence in Sweden since late 2013, but sales in the country have been lagging until mid-2015. Based on registration data, Tesla delivered only 268 Model S’s in Sweden in 2014, but last year the automaker delivered 996 cars, which represents a 271% increase.
Overall sales are still dwarfed by Sweden’s neighbor, Norway, which famously has some of the best EV incentives out there and is one of Tesla’s top markets. But with Tesla’s sales being flat in Norway in 2015 versus 2014, Sweden could eventually catch up if it can maintain its growth rate.
Tesla opened several new Supercharger locations in late 2014, which presumably helped sales performance in 2015. The most populated areas of the country are now covered by the fast-charging network.
Tesla delivered 172 cars in country during the last month alone – its best month ever in Sweden:

Will have to wait & see if this is going to continue or was only a 1-yr uptick. Still good news. The more people who drive EVs, the more people want EVs.
The thing is that there is a niche market in Sweden for electric cars currently, it’s about the image. I’m not saying this is bad though! It helps saving the planet :).
