We haven’t seen a Tesla Roadster next-gen prototype in a long time, but a fan is filling the void with an impressive CGI acceleration of the Tesla Roadster that could be not too far from reality.
When first unveiling the new Roadster, CEO Elon Musk claimed a list of insanely impressive specs for the new Roadster, including a 200 kWh battery pack, 620-mile of range, a 250+ mph top speed, and more.
But as it is often the case with Tesla vehicles, the acceleration is often the most impressive spec.
In the case of the new Tesla Roadster, the automaker claims a 0-60 mph acceleration in just 1.9 seconds.
They believe that 100 mph can be achieved in 4.2 seconds and the vehicle should be able to complete a quarter-mile in just 8.9 seconds.
Automotive graphic designer 2ncs produced a cool video that can give us an idea of what it would be like to have Tesla Roadster overtake you on the road with this crazy acceleration:
We have seen plenty of acceleration from inside the Tesla Roadster prototype (here’s a 360-degree video of it), but there hasn’t been much footage of the vehicle accelerating from the outside, which is, of course, a better perspective when it comes to gaging acceleration.
This video is clearly CGI, but it could be fairly close to what the reality could look like.
The only real footage of the Tesla Roadster accelerating I know of is this:
Just kidding, it is actually based on this much less impressive but still pretty cool video:

There’s also this footage released by Tesla. It looks also CGI to me:
I really can’t wait for Tesla to share more development of the new Roadster, especially since Elon has been hyping the ‘SpaceX package’, which is apparently going to enable the car to hop or launch off the ground.
When Tesla unveiled the new Roadster in 2017, it announced that production would start in 2020, but it’s now 2019 and there hasn’t been any update since.
