Mercedes-Benz is revamping its electric vehicle lineup. The new CLA and GLB are now on sale, while a few EVs are on the way out in 2027.
Mercedes adjusts EV lineup in 2027
Out with the old, in with the new. Mercedes is discontinuing two electric vehicles and another plug-in hybrid from its US lineup in 2027.
The all-electric EQE sedan is one of them. A Mercedes-Benz spokesperson confirmed to Car and Driver that the EQE sedan is being dropped for the 2027 model year, including the performance AMG version.
Mercedes is also pulling the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV, the flagship electric SUV that starts at $180,000.
And it doesn’t stop there. The company is also dropping the Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance, a high-performance plug-in hybrid that also starts at over $180,000.
While the Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan and SUV will remain available, they will likely be replaced shortly by next-gen models.
The EQ brand was Mercedes’ first-generation electric vehicles, which it is now replacing with more advanced EVs based on its MMA platform, like the new CLA sedan and GLB SUV.

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA EV is available in two variants: The 250+ rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and a more powerful 350 4MATIC all-wheel-drive (AWD) model.
Both use an 85 kWh battery pack, providing up to 374 miles of range in the RWD version. The 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA 250+ starts at $47,250, while the more powerful CLA 350 4MATIC starts at $49,800.

Mercedes’ new EV models adopt a more traditional design, closer to its gas-powered vehicles, with a massive grille and boxy proportions.
In the second half of 2027, the new 2028 Mercedes GLA will begin arriving at dealerships in electric and hybrid variants.
