The Lucid Air Grand Touring outlasted the competition during Norway’s NAF Winter Test, driving more than 320 miles (519 km) in the frigid cold.
Lucid Air earns ‘king of range’ title during EV Winter Test
A total of 24 electric vehicles took part in the El Prix Winter Test 2026 this week, held by the Norwegian Automobile Federation (NAF) and Motor magazine.
All of them started with a fully charged battery in Oslo and traveled as far as possible until the vehicle could no longer maintain the speed limit.
With temperatures reaching as low as -31°C (-23.8°F), it was the coldest winter test to date. The Lucid Air Grand Touring drove the greatest distance, covering 519 km (322 miles) with 1% battery charge remaining.
While 519 km is impressive in frigid temperatures, it’s far from the 960 km (596 miles) that the Lucid Air Grand Touring is rated with on the WLTP cycle. It’s also just short of the winter range record of 531 km set by the Polestar 3 last year.
Lawrence Hamilton, President of Lucid Motors Europe, praised the success, saying, “I am proud to tell you that the Lucid Air Grand Touring is (again) the King of Range!” He added:
Lucid achieved the longest range in this year’s El Prix in Norway yesterday. Our Air Grand Touring covered an incredible range of 520 kilometers during the coldest NAF Winter Test ever recorded, with temperatures dropping to minus 31 degrees Celsius on snowy roads. The next closest contender achieved a range of 421 kilometers.
In second place was the Mercedes-Benz CLA, which covered 421 km, followed by the Audi A6, Kia EV4, BMW iX, Volvo ES90, Hyundai IONIQ 9, Xpeng X9, Tesla Model Y, and MG IM6.
The accomplishment comes after the Lucid Air Grand Touring set a range record during the 2025 NAF Summer Test, covering 828.6 km (514 mi).

Lucid’s same model set a new Guinness World Record for the longest distance traveled by an EV last July, achieving 1,205 km on a single charge.
In the US, the 2026 Lucid Air Pure Grand Touring has an EPA-estimated driving range of up to 512 miles. The 2026 Lucid Air Pure RWD (with 19″ wheels) is the most efficient electric vehicle in the US (again) with an impressive 146 MPGe rating.

Nick Twork, Lucid’s communications head, said the Winter Test “is third-party validation of Lucid’s efficiency leadership and powertrain advantage.”
After overcoming production hurdles with the Gravity SUV in the first half of 2025, Lucid is ramping up output. Later this year, it’s set to begin production on its midsize platform, which will underpin three new EVs priced around $50,000.
