The bulk transport experts at Wibax have placed what’s being a “landmark” order with Swedish truck brand Scania that will see over 100 of the company’s battery-electric semi trucks put to work on European roads.
Scania says this Wibax deal is the EU’s largest single sales of electric trucks for bulk transport to date, and reflects the two companies’ shared belief that an electric truck fleet is the ideal solution for sustainable, reliable, and affordable fleet operations.
“We want to electrify our fleet quickly. And, with Scania, we can ensure that we introduce the new technology as quickly as possible to be able to achieve electrification in the timeline we have set out,” says Jonas Wiklund, CEO of Wibax Group. “We believe that in the long-term electrification will be more effective for the heavy, relatively short and repetitive transports that are the core part of our logistics.”
Scania says the deal isn’t only important because of its size, but also in terms of what it means for the progress of electrification within the EU, where the company hopes it can act as a beacon for other transport companies considering going electric.
Even heavier duty

Scania and Wibax have been working together since 2022, when Wibax began operating a three-axle Scania tractor-trailer combination on an 80 km route between Piteå and Skellefteå in northern Sweden. And, while neither company went into detail about the results of the pilot, you don’t go from a single truck order to 105 unless things are going well.
“We see this as proof of Wibax’s confidence in Scania as a trusted partner for the scaling up of its eMobility operations,” added Tobias Ejderhamn, Head of Global Sales, e-truck solutions at Scania. “For Scania, such a large deal underlines our profound belief that battery-electric vehicles represent a strategic opportunity for our customers, especially with regards to future-proofing fleets to meet developing emissions standards.”
