XCharge NA + JOJO launch EV fast chargers in Illinois – first sites live

XCharge North America and JOJO Superfast are rolling out a new EV fast-charging network across Illinois, starting with nine locations and more to come.

The buildout centers on fast charging at retail locations, with the majority of sites initially hosted at Menards home improvement stores. The idea is to put fast chargers where drivers already go.

Each location will feature four 200kW C6 Smart DC fast chargers with two charging ports each. XCharge North America is supplying the hardware and handling the full process, from site planning to construction and deployment.

Here’s where the first wave of sites is headed:

  • Crestwood (operational)
  • Bridgeview (operational)
  • Hodgkins (May 2026)
  • Tinley Park (May 2026)
  • Sterling (Q3 2026)
  • Freeport (Q3 2026)
  • Galesburg (Q3 2026)
  • Main St. Carbondale (Q3 2026)
  • Aurora Outlet Mall (Q3 2026)

This rollout is a good example of how state and utility incentives are helping accelerate EV infrastructure. The project tapped into ComEd’s “Make-Ready” rebate, which helps cover the cost of electrical upgrades needed for high-power charging sites, and funding from the Illinois EPA’s Driving a Cleaner Illinois program, backed by the state’s Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA).

EV charging infrastructure developer JOJO Superfast CEO Joe Sheehan said, “I want to thank ComEd and the IEPA, whose collaboration with us proves that EV incentives can create something incredibly impactful when everyone works together.”

Electrek’s Take

The interesting hook of this announcement is the execution. Two sites are already live; the other seven are on a clear timeline, and they’re backed by incentives that are doing exactly what they’re supposed to: de-risk projects and get these chargers online.

If JOJO and XCharge can scale this beyond nine sites, this could become one of the more practical and useful charging networks in the region. That’s what the US charging buildout needs.
