Slate pricing to be revealed in June, ‘Blank Slate’ truck still expected in the mid-$20k range

EV newcomer Slate Auto just shared an interesting new video on its social media, setting the stage to reveal pricing of its flagship “Blank Slate” electric pickup in June. From what the American startup is saying, it sounds like the bare-bones model will still be one of the most affordable EVs on the market.

If you don’t know already, Slate Auto is an American EV startup that is rewriting the rulebook on how to design, develop, scale (and promote) an all-electric truck. That strategy revolves around the startup’s “Blank Slate” design, starting with a bare bones pickup that is about as basic you can get in a passenger vehicle, but with the ability to fully customize and upgrade your build how you like, whether that’s through the Slate “Maker” on the company website, or at home with your own 3D printer.

When Slate emerged from stealth in 2025, we initially learned that this flagship model was targeting pricing below $20,000 after US tax incentives. Since then, however, the current administration has eliminated most of those federal incentives, leaving us wondering where the Slate truck’s pricing would land.

We are not alone; plenty of others online asked the same question about a pricing update, and Slate has answered… sort of. We now have a better idea of where the MSRP of the flagship EV will sit, and when we can expect to confirm that number.

Blank Slate EV pricing is going public in late-June

Slate Auto posted the video seen above to its Instagram channel this afternoon, showcasing a company update from CEO Chris Barman and some light humor the EV startup is quickly becoming known for.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, I highly recommend checking out Slate’s social media presence and the content it’s posting. That includes everything from the highly stylistic (custom components from unique artists), utilitarian (turning the truck into a split team sports tailgate or BMX skate ramp), or the downright weird (seeing how much the caulk or French onion dip the frunk can hold).

Oh, let’s not forget the Slate engineer caught licking the truck’s hood.

I digress, but there’s not much to talk about regarding today’s latest video on the pricing of the upcoming Blank Slate EV. As you may have already seen in the video, Slate’s CEO states that the startup is hard at work negotiating with suppliers to keep the overall cost of each truck as low as possible. Slate said it best in the comments section, though:

TLDR; we’re on track for a blank Slate price in the mid-twenties in late June.

There you have it. In late June, we will learn the starting pricing of the “blank” Slate EV (you know, the one with virtually zero bells and whistles, including speakers or screens?). “Mid-twenties” sounds like it’s actually happening, and Slate could deliver the most affordable US-built EV to date. Exciting stuff from the young startup. All eyes will be on the late-June announcement, when we can confirm the official MSRP and what that price entails.

As of January 2026, Slate is still expecting to begin initial truck deliveries to customers by the end of the year.
