Queens and Long Island are getting 80 new DC fast charging ports

DC fast charging is expanding across Queens and Long Island, as Kempower and GET Charged Fast EV Charging begin rolling out a new network of public DC fast‑charging sites in busy neighborhood shopping centers.

The first station is at Glen Oaks Shopping Center in Queens, and four more locations are close behind. Together, the five sites will add 80 public fast‑charging ports to the region, targeting areas where drivers can plug in while running everyday errands.

The charging stations use Kempower’s distributed charging system, with each site featuring eight dual Kempower Satellite chargers equipped with both NACS and CCS1 connectors.

All of the locations are sited at neighborhood shopping centers with grocery stores, restaurants, and other frequently used small businesses, so charging can happen alongside daily routines instead of becoming a separate trip.

Kempower North America president Monil Malhotra said, “Globally, EV drivers increasingly prefer charging spots with access to a variety of services like the GET Charged retail-centered charging hubs.”

The stations also aim to keep things streamlined for EV drivers: no new apps or memberships are required, charging is competitively priced, and amenities include free wifi and flexible payment options.

The Glen Oaks charging station, located at 259‑01 Union Turnpike, is already online and open to the public. Additional charging stations are scheduled to open in Whitestone (Queens), Levittown, Elmont, and Commack in early 2026.
