Kia’s new entry-level electric sedan, the Kia EV4, is coming soon. It was spotted showing off its unique silhouette ahead of its official debut.
It’s been just over a year since we first saw the EV4 during Kia’s first annual EV Day last October. The EV4 concept is part of Kia’s new low-cost electric car lineup, including the EV3 and EV5.
Kia’s “EVs for all” strategy includes existing models like the EV6 and larger EV9 but places a heavy focus on affordability.
Its new entry-level models will play a critical role as the Korean automaker looks to solidify itself as a leader in the EV era. Kia’s EV4 was showcased next to the compact EV3 and EV5 SUVs, both of which have already hit the market.
Ahead of its official debut, the EV4 has been spotted out in the wild several times. In August, we got our first look at the unreleased hatchback variant testing in Europe.
Kia EV4 shows off sleek silhouette ahead of launch
New spy images from ShortsCar show the EV4’s distinct silhouette. Despite the camouflage, you can see the EV4’s sleek silhouette, similar to the concept shown last October.
Kia calls the EV4 an “entirely new type of EV sedan.” It will pull design elements from its newer models, like the larger EV9, but the electric sedan is expected to be in a class of its own. The low-riding, wide stance is reminiscent of a sports car but with a modern electric twist.
The interior will include Kia’s next-gen Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) infotainment system. Kia’s award-winning system features dual 12.3″ infotainment and driver display screens.
Kia is expected to reveal the production version by the end of 2024, with deliveries kicking off early next year. Prices and specs will be revealed closer to launch, but the EV4 is expected to start at around $35,000.
Last week, we got a closer look at the EV4 after it was spotted testing in the Alps (you can watch the video here).
The Kia EV3 starts at just over $30,000 (KRW 42.08 million) in Korea with up to 311 miles (501 km) range. In Europe, the EV3 starts at around $40,000 and is rated with up to 372 miles (599 km) WLTP range.
Kia is expected to launch the EV3 in the US next year, starting between $30,000 and $35,000. The EV4 will follow shortly after.
According to TheKoreanCarBlog, Kia plans to begin building EV3 models in Mexico by the end of the year.
