Tesla has released a video showing the first delivery of a vehicle to a customer using a Tesla Semi electric truck prototype – showing a glimpse of a future with zero-emission electric vehicle deliveries.
Over the last few quarters since Model 3 production has been somewhat sustainable at high volume, Tesla has had issues delivering the high numbers of vehicles.
At one point, it even started building its own car carriers and more recently, the company bought car-hauling trucks and trailers with $13 million in equity.
Last month, Tesla released some images of one of their semi electric truck prototypes being used to carry Tesla vehicles.
It wasn’t clear if they were using the truck to move vehicles to distribution centers or actually delivering them to the end user, but Tesla has now released images of an actual delivery with the Tesla Semi:

It gives us a glimpse of what a sustainable future could look like with zero-emission trucks carrying zero-emission vehicles to their users.

It’s unclear how many deliveries Tesla did with its electric truck, but the Tesla Semi prototypes did show up at Gigafactory 1 amid production rumors a few days later.
Tesla Semi is supposed to go into production by the end of the year.
Electrek’s Take
As I stated when Tesla first announced that it is using its electric truck for deliveries, I think this is a great example of a sustainable future when both the products and the logistics to move the products are zero-emission.
Of course, this looks more like a marketing effort than actually leveraging their test fleet for deliveries, but I think it’s still a nice glimpse at the future.
Tesla has already said that they would be their own customers when it comes to electric trucks and use them to reduce logistics costs.
