Truck drivers messing with Tesla owner turns into great ad for Summon feature

Tesla owner and Youtuber Marques Brownlee came back to his Model S in a parking lot to find his vehicle partially blocked on each side by large trucks.

It gave Brownlee a rare opportunity to use Tesla’s Summon feature and nullify what appeared to be the truckers’ attempt to annoy him.

Under its current form, Tesla’s Summon feature is probably one of the least used features enable by Tesla’s Autopilot system.

It enables Tesla owners to remotely move their vehicles forward or in reverse for a few feet in a parking lot.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has been teasing a much more advanced version of Summon that would be able to autonomous or remotely navigate much more complex situations than simply moving forward or backward for a few feet, but the new version has been delayed.

Nonetheless, some owners have found some use cases for the current version of Summon and Brownlee is now one of them.

The Youtuber, who recently got back his Tesla Model S after months of repairs following an accident, said that he left his car in a parking lot and found a truck on each side when he came back – even though there was plenty of empty spots in the lot:

Brownlee swears that he didn’t stage this and that he has witnesses who saw the whole situation.

This actually turned into great publicity for Tesla’s Summon feature with the video having been seen over 500,000 times already.

It’s unclear if it’s again another anti-Tesla act by truck drivers like the other strange ones we have seen over the last few months.

Assuming that it isn’t staged (I tend to trust Brownlee who seems like a genuine person, but damn me if it doesn’t look stage), the truck drivers could have thought that they were punishing him for not being parked correctly.

He was clearly parked correctly between the white lines but there were also other lines, which might have confused them.

Either way, it looks like he could still have been able to get in the car – though it was tight and the use of Summon definitely made sense.
