Tesla surprises European owners with Model 3 test drives

With the upcoming launch of the Model 3 in Europe, Tesla is going to deliver the vehicle to existing Model S and Model  X owners first and they decided to surprise them with Model 3 test drives ahead of time.

As we reported earlier this week, Tesla opened the Model 3 online configurator across Europe with deliveries planned for February.

Like it did in the US, Tesla is expected to first deliver the vehicle to existing owners who placed a reservation two years ago.

The automaker decided to give priority to those who bought a Model S and Model X because they believe they enable the Model 3 to exist in the first place.

Even though the Model 3 has been on sale in North America for over a year now, many reservation holders in Europe haven’t had the chance to drive the Model 3 or even see the car in person yet.

Tesla decided to invite some of them for a surprise test drive.

They told them that they were going to film them talking about their current Tesla vehicles and why they also want a Model 3, but a Model 3 crept up behind them as they were talking.

The automaker produced a fun video about it:

Tesla plans to start producing its first batch of Model 3 for the European market in January and the vehicles will be in transit for a few weeks in order to start deliveries around February.

Right now, European orders are limited to the two higher versions of the Model 3. Tesla is expected to open up orders for the Mid-Range and rear-wheel-drive versions shortly after the first deliveries in the market.
