We haven’t had the chance to test drive the new all-electric Jaguar I-PACE yet (what’s up with that Jaguar?), but now we get to see a glimpse of the car in action driven by none other than Baby Driver (or Ansel Elgort, the star of Baby Driver, to be more precise).
If you haven’t seen Baby Driver, I recommend it (this is not an ad). It’s an entertaining movie with a great soundtrack.
In the movie, Elgort plays a getaway driver named Baby who relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game.
The actor tried to live up to his Baby Driver character by taking the I-PACE on the Smart Cone course, which uses wireless technology to randomly illuminate pairs of cones to set out a different route each time. With millions of different potential options taking place in real-time, the technology provides a unique test of driving skill, precision and reactions.
Elgort commented:
I’ve driven fast cars on set but never anything like this. I-PACE’s speed as soon as I hit the pedal really took me by surprise and made the challenge even more interesting. The Smart Cones look pretty simple at first, but once you’re out there it’s hard to anticipate where to go next…I’d love to go out and have another go!
Here’s a video of the event Filmed at Seret Studios in Brooklyn, ahead of the I-PACE’s North American debut at the New York International Auto Show this week:
It’s part of a series of videos about the I-PACE that Jaguar released over the last few weeks since launching the vehicle earlier this month.
