After Tesla unveiled its next-gen Roadster prototype and set a new benchmark for hypercars, Rimac, which has been known as the leader in all-electric hypercars, announced that it’s working on its own next-generation entry in the segment.
Now, the company unveils new teaser images of the upcoming vehicle.
Rimac has been slowly shifting its business model over the last year from a hypercar manufacturer to an OEM supplier for automakers building electric cars – so far mainly other hypercars.
They already produce the battery pack for the Koenigsegg Regera, another plug-in hybrid hypercar, and it was announced earlier this year that Aston Martin’s upcoming new hypercar will have a battery pack supplied by Rimac.
In order to expand their production for those contracts, they recently took a $36 million investment from a Chinese battery firm.
But the automaker doesn’t plan to give up on making its own hypercars and it has been teasing its latest vehicle.
The latest teaser released today gives us our closest look at the vehicle so far:
We get a few good angles, but they made sure to keep everything quite dark.
The best look is the front-end. We played with the exposure and contrast to get a better look at the lines:
Rimac says that the vehicle will be unveiled in full “soon”.
It’s fun to get a teaser of the look of the vehicle, I’m sure it will be cool-looking.
What we want are the specs. Show us what you’ve got Rimac. With an acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 1.9 sec, at top speed of “over 250 mph and a range of “620 miles”, the new Tesla Roadster set the bar and Rimac needs some crazy specs to impress the market.
Especially if they plan to bring the vehicle to market around the same $1 million price tag as their Concept-One.
But Rimac has impressed in the past and they were ahead of anyone at one point. Maybe they could do it again.
