When buying a Tesla Wall Connector, new Model S and Model X owners had to choose between a 8.5′ or 24′ cable.
The $50 difference between the two made it easy to go with the 24′ for maximum flexibility, but now Tesla is even reducing the price down by another 10%.
Several people reached out to us after taking advantage of the price drop.
Both 8.5′ and 24′ options are now just $500 on Tesla’s website:
The 8.5’ length Wall Connector is recommended for easy cable management when installed directly adjacent to a parking spot. For Model S or Model X equipped with the standard on-board charger (48A), install the Wall Connector with a 60 amp circuit breaker for optimal charging. For vehicles with a High Amperage charger upgrade (72A) install Wall Connector with a 90 amp circuit breaker. For power sharing with more than one Tesla, install with as much power as possible, up to 100 amps.
The 24’ length Wall Connector is recommended for maximum flexibility in parking locations
The device is now officially listed to also work with the Model 3.
At $500 with a 72A capacity, it would be difficult to find a better deal for a home charging solution. Tesla owners can still buy third-party home connectors, one of my preferred third-party solutions is the Juicebox, which has a Wifi connection and a very nice app, but they will be more expensive or have a weaker capacity in most cases.
The updated pricing comes as Tesla also started offering home charging installations in certain markets in an attempt to streamline the electric vehicle buying process.
