Tesla Model 3 spotted with ‘Signature Red’ color – Elon Musk’s ‘something special’?

As we reported earlier today, Tesla Model 3 release candidate sightings have been multiplying this week.

A new one is particularly interesting because it features a new color that looks very similar to the classic ‘Signature Red’ that Tesla used to offer.

When Tesla started taking orders for the Model 3 on March 31st, CEO Elon Musk confirmed that unlike Tesla’s previous models, there will not be any ‘Signature reservation’ option for the Model 3. With the Model S and X, Tesla opened up 1,000 ‘Signature reservation’ spots per market for a $40,000 deposit (versus $5,000 for a regular reservation).

A ‘Signature reservation’ assured that you would get the vehicle sooner than anyone in your market and you also had the option to choose a special color called ‘Signature red’ to make your car stand out.

While there were no ‘Signature’ reservations for the Model 3, Musk still promised “something special” for early reservation holders.

Now Roger Li spotted a new red Model 3 in Palo Alto today and it looks very similar to ‘Signature Red’:

Here are a few screenshots for a closer look at the vehicle:

The colors are definitely different, but whether or not the new one is truly ‘Signature Red’ is still up for debate – though it looks very close.

What do you think? Is Signature Red making a comeback on the Model 3 as the “something special” for early reservation holders? Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
