Last week, Faraday Future released a drag race video showcasing its upcoming electric crossover against a Bentley Bentayga, a Ferrari 488 GTB, and a Tesla Model X P100D with the Ludicrous battery upgrade. The company claimed that its vehicle was faster than all those cars, but if you looked closely in the video, a Tesla Model S was in the background.
Sure enough, the startup now released another video claiming that its prototype is quicker than the Tesla Model S P100D’s 2.5 seconds 0 to 60 mph time.
Like with the Model X in the last video, the company made an effort to show Tesla’s ‘Ludicrous mode’ being turned on and the state of charge of the battery at 100%, those are the perfect conditions for the Model S to achieve its 0 to 60 mph acceleration in 2.5 seconds.
It looks like FF’s prototype beat the Model S by half a car length – indicating that it might be just under 2.4 seconds.
Tesla is supposed to be releasing a software update next week that could bring down the P100D’s 0-60 time to 2.4 seconds.
Nonetheless, if true, it looks like FF built an impressive powertrain. Here’s the quick video:
As we recently reported, Faraday Future has a world-class team of engineers developing some interesting EV technology and despite their clear financial troubles and some apparent mismanagement (more on that later), we hope the tech they developed doesn’t die.
