Last month, we reported on Tesla’s director of Nordic sales confirming that the automaker is planning to enter the Irish market. It became a reality this week as Tesla officially started taking orders for the Model S and X in Ireland.
The estimated delivery date for people ordering now from Ireland is “early 2017”.
As usual, Tesla adjusts the price of their vehicles internationally according to the exchange rate and then include the country’s import fees, tax, and registration.
In Ireland, that adds up to €81,000 after VAT and VRT, but the government offers a €5,000 grant and lower motor and registration taxes.
Last month, Tesla’s director of Nordic sales, Peter Bardenfleth-Hansen, said that Tesla will have stores, service centers, and Supercharger stations in early 2017, which is apparently around the time of the first deliveries, but test drive events should happen before then.
Ireland is one among many new market expansions for Tesla in 2016, including Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan, New Zealand and Spain. That’s while expanding its retail presence in Tesla’s current markets in North America, Europe and Asia.
