It’s well-known at this point that Tesla doesn’t pay for advertising, the company prefers spending its money in R&D and service (though it has a significant marketing budget), but that doesn’t stop fans from creating unofficial TV spots for the automaker’s flagship sedan.
We’ve seen a cool 1984-esque Tesla Model S amateur ad featuring narration from actual Nikola Tesla quotes and another one highlighting the quietness of electric cars, again featuring the Model S.
Even though the quality of some of the unofficial commercials has been outstanding, most of them were from amateur filmmakers, but this latest entry is surprisingly from a veteran commercial producer who normally gets paid handsomely for his work.
Manuel Wenger has been working on commercials for over a decade and he more recently worked with several automakers like Ford, Audi and Rolls Royce. He even recently made a commercial for another electric car, the BMW i3.
But his latest project is a commercial, which feels more like a short film, to promote the Tesla Model S even though it is not sponsored by Tesla. First spotted by EVAnnex, the video directed by Christoph Lacmanski highlights the car’s cargo space and quietness in a funny way.
