Johammer’s all-electric futuristic-looking motorcycle with 125 miles of range [Gallery]

We recently stumbled upon a small Austrian-based company called Johammer. The firm is building an interesting futuristic-looking electric motorcycle: the Johammer J1. They launched the vehicle last year, but they recently ramp-up production and we are now seeing more of the vehicle reminiscent of a Star Wars pod racer with chopper-like handles.

The Johammer J1 is offered with two different battery pack options: 8.3 kWh and 12.7 kWh for 93 miles (150 km) and 125 miles (200 km) of range respectively.

The range is significant for an electric motorcycle and competitive with the likes of Zero Motorcycles and Victory, but it comes at a price: € 22,900 (~$26,000) for the bike with the 8.3 kWh battery pack and € 24,900 (~$28,000) for the 12.7 kWh option.

It’s definitely on the expensive side, but there’s certainly a market for this type of novel vehicle. Personally, I think it looks badass in black, but I have the feeling that the design falls in the love it or hate it spectrum.

The chassis is mainly made out of aluminum and has an overall weight of 178 kg (390 lb). It is powered by a DC-excited synchronous motor with single-stage transmission and regenerative braking capacity. The motor has a continuous power output of 11kW and a peak power output of 16kW.

It still amazes me how E MC’s don’t do aero far better? This bike could double highway range with a good fairing.

Nice! I especially like the mirrors with integrated daytime running lights, turn signals, and displays.
It’s also worth noting that they use “Tesla style” 18650 cells.

I like the look a lot, but at the same time it looks like it has great cooling for the ICE behind that big air scoop. I’m sure it needs a little cooling for the controller motor and batteries, but mostly that’s some insincere styling cues right there.

Wow, that’s one funky e-bike design, almost seems like it was designed in reverse.
