Morgan hits the mark with its new EV3 all-electric 3-Wheeler debuting in Geneva [Gallery]

When we saw Morgan’s EV3 prototype last year, we were surprised by its impressive electric powertrain specs with an estimated 150 miles range on a 20 kWh battery pack, but the design lack the automaker’s flagship quiet confidence in its appearance – granted it was only a prototype.

Today Morgan unveiled the production version at the 2016 Geneva Motor show and it hits the mark (see gallery below).

Of course, a convertible three-wheeler is not for everyone, but there’s still a market for leisure cars and it’s fun to see an all-electric offering in it.

Morgan Managing Director Steve Morris writes in a press release:

“The EV3 is an exciting opportunity for our customers to enjoy the unique Morgan driving experience and the joy of tailored manufacture whilst remaining conscientious towards the future of our planet.”

Even though the EV3 is equipped with a fairly large 20 kWh battery pack, it weights less than 500 kg (1,100 lb) thanks to its composite carbon panels in its body construction.

The vehicle is powered by a 46 kW motor driving the rear wheel. It can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in less than 9 seconds and has a top speed in “excess of 90 mph”.

I have to admit, it looks like a lot of fun to drive.

The company says that the EV3 will go into production in the fourth quarter of 2016 and will be priced comparably to its gasoline powered 3 Wheelers, which range from £30,000 to £80,000.

Here’s a gallery of the new EV3:

I know this is the wrong thing to say here but the only proper Morgan 3 wheeler is one with a J.A.P or Matchless V-Twin at the front.
Ok, I’m biased as I have one. That front is awful sorry guys. I normall applaud most thing that come out of the Malvern Factory but No please no not this.

I think it’s fun to see a company like Morgan bring an EV out of the legendary Malvern works. Of course it’s not a practical every-day driver EV, but who really drives a Morgan every day? It will be a blast to drive! But that third headlight messes with the symmetry of the front end.
