Best USB hubs for Tesla Model 3, Model S, and more

Even if you already have your USB storage for TeslaCam and Sentry Mode figured out, one thing you might quickly realize is that your Tesla’s built-in I/O can be quite limiting. If you want to make sure your Tesla is properly configured for recordings but still have more than one available powered USB port in your car, you’re going to need a USB hub of some kind.

One alternative option is the best flush lighter USB-C adapter that puts out up to 40W through dual USB-C power only ports for $8 after clipping coupon. This runs 2 extra fast charging USB-C or USB-C to lightning either to the front or back of the car.

In this guide we’ve laid out some of your best options.

Jeda USB Hub for Tesla Model 3

Easily the best USB hubs available for Model 3 manufactured before June 2020.

Use code ELECTREK for $5 off!

The Jeda USB Hub for Tesla Model 3 (and Model Y) is easily one of the best USB hubs available — so much so that some would argue this is how the Model 3 should ship from the factory. Jeff put it best in his full review of the Jeda USB hub last year:

The biggest compliment that I can give the Jeda USB Hub is that I sometimes forget that I even have it in my car. I don’t often pull my SSD for Sentry Mode or dash cam footage review, and because the unit sits flush against the back of the center console, it just kind of disappears.

The Jeda is a little bit on the pricy side at $79, but it’s also a little complicated. There are actually two models available: one for the original Model 3 manufactured before June 2020 with two USB-A ports, and another one that is made for both the newer Model 3 and Model Y (those cars have a single USB-A port and a USB-C port). It’s also not available at all for Model S and Model X.

Jeda is also planning to launch a new USB Hub that includes a retrofit for the center console, and an accessory “that stands out in your center console and adds a number of functionalities.” You can sign up to learn more at Jeda’s website.

Jeda USB Hub for Model 3 and Model Y

The best USB hub available, made for the newer (post-June 2020) Model 3 and Model Y.

Use code ELECTREK for $5 off!

As mentioned, there’s two models of these best-for-your-Tesla Jeda USB hubs — one for the older Model 3 revision manufactured before June 2020, and another one that is made for both the newer Model 3 and Model Y. There’s not much difference other than the fact that this model is made to use the new USB-A and USB-C port combo, rather than two USB-A ports of the old.

Here’s Seth’s takeaway from our full review:

Honestly, I don’t understand why Tesla doesn’t integrate this type of hub functionality into Model Y and Model 3 by default. TeslaCam and Sentry and even gaming is a core functionality of these cars, and having to hack a hub onto the car seems like a lack of forethought on Tesla’s part. With the upcoming update to Model 3, it looks like Tesla might be fixing this. For everyone else, there’s the very well built and functional Jeda Hub.

Jeda’s USB Hub Console

A great pick for a combo hub console.

Designed for refreshed 2021 Tesla Model 3 and Y refreshed center consoles, the Jeda USB Hub Console is an excellent all-in-one center console and USB hub for all your Tesla charging and organization needs. The accessory offers you more ports for plugging in all your devices, a new wireless charger, and of course a console organizer: It comes with integrated headphones and smartwatch chargers, and it’s a great place to keep your wallet, keys, glasses, pens, and more.

TAPTES USB Hub Pro 6 in 1 for Model 3

A budget option for Model 3.

If you want the benefits of the popular Jeda hub but not the price tag, this TAPTES USB hub for Model 3 is pretty much your only option. It has decent reviews on Amazon and it’s very functionally similar — it even has a hideaway for your SSD. On the downside, it doesn’t have USB-C ports. This one is a tight fit in the console, and that’s by design. It’s currently available for the pre-June 2020 Model 3, not on Model Y.

Anker 4-Port USB 3.0 Splitter Hub

A tried and true 4-port USB hub for $20-25

It should go without saying that it’s not required that you go with the pricey Jeda USB hub if you just want to add a couple more USB ports to your Tesla. In fact, the best value when it comes to USB hubs for your Tesla might be found at the lower end of the price spectrum if you’re okay with a few wires sitting out. There are plenty of these available from various brands on Amazon, but we’re a fan of the Anker 4-port USB 3.0 unibody data hub.

Another great option from Anker usually $15.

As mentioned, there are lots of potential USB hubs available on Amazon that will work best with your Tesla Model S, Model X, Model 3, and Model Y. This Anker 4-port USB 3.0 hub is another one of the best USB hub options available on Amazon with countless positive reviews.
