Tesla’s former head of comms joins Dyson as company is quietly going into electric car business
British technology company Dyson is best known for designing and manufacturing vacuum cleaners, but last year it acquired Michigan-based solid-state battery startup Sakti3 for $90 million and announced plans to build an important $1 billion battery factory to mass produce the next generation battery technology.
The company has since been rumored to be building an electric car using its solid state batteries. Coincidently (or not), Dyson has now hired Tesla’s former head of communications.

Tesla VP of Communications leaves the automaker ahead of Model 3 launch

Tesla’s Vice President of Global Communications Ricardo Reyes recently left the automaker as first reported by Bloomberg today and confirmed by Tesla. The timing of Reyes’s departure from Tesla is not ideal since the company is about to go through a crucial moment in its short history, which is sure to attract a lot of media coverage: the Model 3 unveiling.
