The LEGO Group is installing a large solar array at its new US factory in Chesterfield County, Virginia, as it moves toward powering the site with 100% renewable energy.

LEGO makes arguably the best and most creative toys on the planet, so of course it was inevitable for someone to make a Tesla out of LEGO bricks at some point. LEGO runs a website to share amateur designs and where people can vote on their favorite new sets. If a set gets enough votes (10,000), the company reviews the design and it can be approved for professional refining by its own designers and then move to production.

An interesting fact about lego bricks: the first hands to touch a Lego brick are the hands of a customer since the entire manufacturing process is automated.
Granted, plastic blocks are significantly less complicated than li-ion battery cells, but since Tesla hired a long-time Lego manufacturing executive to lead the Gigafactory effort, it is an interesting analogy for the potential level of automation at Tesla’s battery factory.
