The standard Volkswagen ID. Buzz is available with a long-wheelbase (LWB) version, and the Cargo version will be too soon.
Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo gains a LWB option
While Kia is preparing to introduce the PV7, a bigger sibling to the PV5 electric van, Volkswagen plans to do the same with the ID. Buzz Cargo.
To keep up with Kia and others, Volkswagen is adding a long-wheelbase variant with more interior cargo space.
The ID. Buzz Cargo is the commercial version of Volkswagen’s electric van. In its standard (SWB) configuration, the electric work van is 4,712 mm long, 2,211 mm wide, and 2,177 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,989 mm.
The LWB version is about 5,000 mm long, or roughly 300 mm longer than the ID. Buzz SWB. It also has a maximum load length of 2,405 mm, compared to 2,208 mm.
Thanks to the added space, the LWB variant offers up to 4.4 cubic meters of cargo space, a considerable jump from the 3.9 cubic meters offered in the standard ID. Buzz Cargo.
Depending on the configuration, the LWB version offers a max payload of up to 697 kg, which is surprisingly less than the SWB’s 750 kg max payload.
Like the standard version, the Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo will be available with hinged rear doors and a standard second sliding door.
Inside, it will feature a new steering wheel with added physical buttons and an improved Travel Assist ADAS system.
The new LWB version will also be available with a bigger 86 kWh battery, which is expected to provide a WLTP range of around 300 miles. In comparison, the standard VW ID. Buzz is available with a 79 kWh battery with a WLTP range of up to 277 miles.
It will also be available with single- or all-wheel-drive powertrains, delivering up to 250 kW (335 hp) combined with 4MOTION. That’s up from the 210 kW (281 hp) the standard version offers.
Volkswagen has yet to reveal prices and full specs for the new ID. Buzz Cargo LWB, but we should learn more soon.
