BYD’s new sedan is about the size of a Tesla Model 3, but it’s half the cost in China. The new Seal 06 went on sale in China, starting at just 109,900 yuan, or about $16,500.
BYD launches the new Seal 06 with Flash Charging
Although the current Seal 06 EV went on sale just last summer, BYD is already introducing the updated model.
BYD officially launched the 2027 Seal 06 on Tuesday, with both pure-electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (DM-i) powertrains.
It’s available in 12 variants altogether. The new Seal 06 EV starts at 109,900 yuan ($16,500), while the PHEV (DM-i) version is slightly cheaper, priced from just 99,900 yuan ($15,000).
Like most of BYD’s new vehicles, the Seal 06 is equipped with its new Blade Battery 2.0 and Flash Charging tech. In just 5 minutes, the vehicle’s battery can charge from 10% to 70%. For a full recharge (10% to 97%), it takes just 9 minutes.
Another upgrade is that the 2027 Seal 06 is now available with BYD’s God’s Eye B driver-assist, the first time the ADAS tech has been applied to a sedan in its price range.

The system includes a roof-mounted LiDAR to support assisted driving features, such as Navigation on Autopilot (NOA) in the city and at high speeds, as well as intelligent remote parking.
Inside, the setup includes a large 15.6″ central infotainment screen and an 8.8″ driver display. Higher-priced variants gain a 12″ head-up display.

The EV version is powered by BYD’s second-generation Blade LFP batteries, providing a CLTC range of either 530 km (329 miles) or 630 km (391 miles), depending on the configuration.
Powered by a single front motor, the Seal 06 is available with peak outputs of 120 kW or 240 kW.

The Seal 06 PHEV is powered by BYD’s fifth-gen DM plug-in system, offering a pure electric CLTC range of up to 320 km (199 miles) and a combined range of up to 2,307 km (1,434 miles).
Measuring 4,870 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm, BYD’s Seal 06 is about the same size as the Tesla Model 3.
Starting at just 109,900 yuan ($16,500), BYD’s electric sedan is half the cost of a Model 3 in China. The Model 3 RWD starts at 235,500 yuan ($35,000) with a CLTC driving range of up to 634 km (394 miles).
