The GLA is the smallest, most affordable SUV Mercedes-Benz offers. Ahead of its debut on July 29, the first image of the all-new GLA EV leaked online.
Mercedes GLA EV leaks before its debut
Following the larger GLC and GLB, the GLA is the next Mercedes SUV in line for an upgrade. Mercedes confirmed the new GLA will make its debut on July 29.
Like the new GLB, the gas-powered model will retain the GLA name, while the EV version drops the previous EQA and will simply be called GLA Electric.
The electric SUV will use the same MMA (Mercedes Modular Architecture) platform as the new CLA EV. With an 800V electrical system and an 85 kWh NMC battery pack, the new GLA EV will feature ultra-fast charging and likely at least 400 miles of range (WLTP).
While Mercedes is preparing to reveal the new GLA on Wednesday, we are already getting our first look at it after an image of it apparently leaked online.
The image was released by Cochespias, revealing the new GLA EV from just one angle. It’s still unofficial, but from the looks of it, this is likely the new model.
You can see the redesigned Mercedes grille up front and new headlights with the brand’s three-pointed stars in them.
Although it’s not shown in the image, the interior is expected to feature a similar setup to the new CLA. This includes a 14″ central infotainment screen and 10.24″ driver cluster, plus an optional 14″ passenger screen.

The setup is powered by the new Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS) as the first infotainment system to integrate AI from both Microsoft and Google.
Like the CLA, the new GLA EV will be available in two versions: 250+ and 350 4MATIC. The new CLA 250+ has an RWD powertrain with 268 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque, while the AWD 350 4MATIC packs 349 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque.
We will learn more details tomorrow, July 29. Check back for a full breakdown.
