Ford explains every Mustang Mach-E has a distinct ‘personality’

Didn’t you know your vehicle has its own personality? Ford said all 2026 Mustang Mach-E’s have a unique “personality,” and it’s not just a different look. Here’s how they compare.

We don’t all have the same everyday commute. Some of us trudge through the snow, others dodge potholes on the way to work.

For that reason, Ford designed each Mustang Mach-E variant with a distinct suspension, or “personality,” as the company calls it.

The 2026 Ford Mustang Mach-E is available in four different suspension personalities: Rally, GT (MagneRide), GT (Passive), and Select/Premium.

As you could guess, the Rally variant is designed for on- and off-roading. The GT MagneRide is for those looking for “Intelligent Adaptibility,” while GT Passive offers a “Connect and Responsive” drive. And then there’s Select/Premium for a comfortable, confident ride.

Mathew Gabrielli, the chief engineer for the Mustang Mach-E, explained that the MagneRide Damping System, available on the 2026 GT trim, adapts in real time to road conditions and how you are driving.

Sensors working in the background monitor body and wheel motion up to 1,000 times per second, adjusting drive settings around corners and based on terrain.

The Rally variant takes it a step further with added hardware for even more off-road capability. The extra suspension absorbs bumps and other impacts that would normally rip apart a standard vehicle.

For those looking to be “more in-tune with the road,” the Mustang Mach-E GT with passive suspension may be your best bet. The suspension is modified for performance, trading some of the cushion for sharper, more confident control.

The Mustang Mach-E Select and Premium utilize the same passive suspension with springs and dampers specifically designed for a comfortable, fun-to-drive experience that the Mustang name is known for.

  • Rally: For “Proven Versatility, On and Off Pavement”
  • GT (MagneRide): For “Intelligent Adaptability” in real-time.
  • GT (Passive): For “Connected and Responsive” engagement.
  • Select/Premium: For “Confident Comfort” and shared journeys.

“None of these are compromises. From the very start of development, we set out to engineer each Mustang Mach-E trim series for a distinct type of driver, not just a spec sheet, ” according to Matt Hubbard, who led the suspension validation testing for Mustang Mach-E.

“Whichever Mustang Mach-E you choose, the suspension personality underneath you was created for exactly that,” he added.
