We have been reporting quite often on accidents involving Tesla’s Autopilot program so it’s just fair that we also let you know about accidents involving other autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle programs.
We learned that one of Google’s self-driving prototype was involved in a serious crash with a commercial van in Mountain View today.
A witness told us that no one was hurt.
Earlier this afternoon, a commercial van (seen in the background of the picture above) crash in the side of Google self-driving Lexus prototype on the corner of W El Camino and Calderon Ave.
Details are scarce. We don’t know who is at fault in the accident just yet.
Based on the damage on the vehicle, it might be the most severe accident involving a Google self-driving car. Earlier this year, another of Google’s Lexus prototype was involved in a crash – that time it was with a bus.
Our sister-site 9to5Google has more details and reached out to Google about the accident.
