We haven’t seen a Tesla Model 3 prototype since the Motor Trend photoshoot at the Gigafactory and that was over a month ago. Also, sightings in the wild (if you consider the public roads of the Bay Area “the wild”) have been pretty rare.
We got to see some shots of the Silver Model 3 prototype in the Marin Headlands, which was a rare sighting of the vehicle out on public roads.

Now in a video posted to Youtube today and filmed in Palo Alto, near Tesla’s headquarters, we see what is likely the first Model 3 prototype testing on public roads.
The video shows a Matte Black Model 3 prototype escorted by two Model S’s (vertical video warning):

We can’t spot anything new on the vehicle itself – how about you? let us know in the comment section below.
Tesla is set to finalize the design of the Model 3 in the coming weeks. The company expects to send out the final tooling designs by the end of the month and it set July 1st, 2017 as its “impossible” deadline for parts both internally and for suppliers.
Last month, the automaker raised $1.7 billion and the bulk of the money will be put toward getting the Model 3 production program going with the first deliveries expected in late 2017.
