BYD used the Denza Z9 GT to showcase its latest breakthrough technology, including its 5-minute Flash Charging. Next year, the luxury GT will get another major update in Europe.
BYD confirms God’s Eye update for Denza in 2027
After unveiling the new Z9 GT in China earlier this year, BYD’s luxury sub-brand Denza claimed it was the “world’s longest pure electric driving range electric vehicle,” offering a CLTC range of up to 1,036 km (643 miles).
BYD launched the electric GT in Europe in July, its first vehicle in Europe to use its tri-motor e3 platform, second-generation Blade Batteries and Flash Charging Technology.
The Denza Z9 GT kicked off “Europe’s Flash Charging revolution,” the company said, enabling drivers to charge up just as quickly as filling a gas tank.
Next year, BYD announced that Denza vehicles in Europe will receive an upgrade to its “God’s Eye” intelligent driving assistance system, adding “a new level” of urban driving ability.
Starting with the Z9 GT in 2027, Denza vehicles will receive City Navigation on Driving Assistant (CNOA) through an over-the-air (OTA) software update.

While average ADAS systems can handle straight-line driving on open roads, BYD said CNOA can manage point-to-point navigation in dense city driving.
The update will use the vehicle’s existing hardware, including a LiDAR, 12 ultrasonic radar sensors, three millimeter-wave radar sensors, and 11 cameras.
Once installed, the vehicle can automatically stop at red lights, yield at roundabouts, drive at the posted speed limit, make left turns, and change lanes around double-parked vehicles. It can also detect pedestrians, cyclists, and other objects in narrow city streets.

Stella Li, BYD’s executive vice president, said that “We’re excited to fulfill our promise to bring the benefits of God’s Eye, including City Navigation on Driving Assistant, to the Z9GT.”
The hardware is already pre-installed, and the software is expected to be available in 2027 via an OTA update.
In Europe and the UK, the Denza Z9 GT is available in purely electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains.

The all-electric version uses a 122.49 kWh battery pack and three electric motors, delivering a combined 1,140 hp (850 kW) and 892 lb-ft (1,210 Nm) of torque. Under WLTP conditions, the Denza Z9 GT offers up to 599 km (372 miles) of range.
With up to 1,500 kW of charging power, BYD’s Flash Charging stations offer what it calls “Ready in 5, Full in 9, Cold Add 3.”
In 5 minutes, the Denza Z9 GT can charge from 10% to 70%. To go from 10% to 97%, it takes just 9 minutes, and even in temperatures as low as -30°C, it takes only 3 minutes longer, replenishing the battery from 20% to 97% in 12 minutes.
The Denza GT is 5,195 mm long, 1,990 mm wide, and 1,480 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm, or about the size of the Porsche Panamera and Taycan.
In Europe, the Denza Z9 GT EV starts at €115,000 ($130,000), including VAT. In the UK, it’s priced from £105,000 ($139,000) for the EV variant. The plug-in hybrid (DM) starts at £95,000 ($126,000).
