Kia’s new EV3 is just getting started after 500+ first-month sales

With the 2027 EV3 now on sale and another record sales quarter, Kia said it’s “the brand to watch” in 2027.

Kia sets Q3 sales record as the EV3 arrives

Kia sold over 77,000 vehicles in the US last month, its best September sales month since it landed in America in 1992.

In the third quarter, the company sold 221,664 vehicles, another record. Kia is now on pace for a fourth consecutive record year of sales in the US.

Through the first nine months of 2026, Kia America sold 667,386 vehicles, up about 5% from the same period last year.

“These monumental sales achievements can be attributed to Kia’s wide range of models and powertrains,” Kia America vice president of sales Eric Watson said.

With several new vehicles now on sale, including the recently launched EV3, Watson said the momentum built in the first three quarters “makes Kia the brand to watch as we set our sights even higher in 2027.”

The 2027 EV3 went on sale in mid-August, starting at just $29,890. In its first full month of sales, Kia sold 514 EV3s in the US.

Although that’s still a relatively small number compared to the over 16,000 Sportages Kia sold last month, the EV3 is expected to be among Kia’s biggest growth drivers heading into 2027.

Starting at about $30,000, the EV3 is one of the most affordable electric vehicles in the US, alongside the new Chevy Bolt EV and Nissan Leaf. However, the EV3 offers a longer driving range, more power, and is the only one with all-wheel drive (AWD).

In its first full year of sales, the EV3 was the third most popular EV in the UK and ranked 10th in Europe.

Will it have the same impact in the US? While smaller SUVs are not as popular in America, $30,000 for an all-electric SUV with modern tech, fast charging, and plenty of range is hard to beat.

We will find out soon as more sales data is released. What are your thoughts on the EV3? Will it become a top seller as it has in other global markets? Share your thoughts in the comments.
