BYD introduced the upgraded Yuan Up, sold overseas as the Atto 2, with more range and a lower starting price.
BYD Atto 2/ Yuan Up gets an upgrade
The Yuan Up, sold as the Atto 2 in Europe, the UK, and other global regions, is a smaller sibling of the Yuan Plus, or Atto 3.
BYD’s compact SUV is among the world’s top-selling electric vehicles. According to data from Cleantechnica, the BYD Yuan Up/Atto 2 was the fifth best-selling EV globally in the first half of 2026, following the Tesla Model Y, Model 3, BYD Song/Seal U, and Geely EX2.
BYD launched the new 2027 Atto 2 in China on Thursday, adding a new longer-range variant to the lineup.
The 2027 BYD Atto 2 “Flying Spur” edition is available in five trims, priced from 74,800 yuan to 104,800 yuan, or about $11,000 to $15,500.
BYD is offering a limited-time “super replacement” subsidy of 5,000 yuan across the lineup, which brings prices down to between 69,800 yuan and 99,800 yuan ($10,000 to $14,500).

Like the current model, the upgraded Yuan Plus is available with 32 kWh and 45.12 kWh battery packs, providing CLTC ranges of 301 km and 401 km, respectively. However, a new “Excellent” variant offers up to 501 km of range using a larger 51.13 kWh battery.
While the base 301 km variant remains the same starting price, the 401 km variant is about 18,000 yuan ($2,500) less than the current Yuan Up.
Measuring 4,310 mm long, 1,830 mm wide, and 1,675 mm high, with a 2,620 mm wheelbase, the 2027 model is the same size as the current Yuan Up. It’s about the size of a Hyundai Kona.

The interior gets a refresh with a new two-spoke steering wheel, a column-mounted electronic gear shifter, a 12.8″ smart infotainment screen, and an 8.8″ full LCD instrument cluster.
All variants include BYD’s DiLink 100 Advanced Smart Cockpit, with intelligent voice control, smartphone connectivity, and multiple themes.

They also come with a 360-degree panoramic imaging system and the available God’s Eye C driver assistance system. BYD’s advanced driver assistance system offers ADAS features such as Navigate on Autopilot on highways and Remote Parking Assist.
The upgraded 2027 Yuan Up comes as BYD fights to gain market share in one of the most popular segments, competing with other top sellers like the Geely Xingyuan, sold as the EX2 overseas.
