It’s finally here. After launching the EV3 in the latter half of 2024 (which we already got to test-drive), the compact electric SUV quickly became a top-selling EV in Europe, the UK, South Korea, and other global markets.

The 2027 Kia EV3 is now on sale in the US, starting at just $29,890. That’s for the standard-range EV3 Light FWD trim.

It’s available in five trims: Light, Wind, Land, GT-Line, and GT. The standard-range EV3 Light FWD, powered by a 58.3 kWh battery, has an EPA-estimated driving range of 221 miles. Kia estimated it would deliver 220 miles of range.

The long-range EV3 FWD with the 81.4 kWh battery has an EPA-estimated range of up to 321 miles, beating Kia’s estimate by 1 mile.

The Wind, Land, GT-Line, and GT variants start at $34,990, $38,490, $43,490, and $45,890, respectively. Adding AWD costs an extra $3,200.

Front-wheel-drive (FWD) variants use a single electric motor producing 201 horsepower. All-wheel drive (AWD) is standard on the GT-Line and GT trims and optional on the Wind and Land models, delivering a combined 261 horsepower. The EV3 GT is slightly more powerful, with up to 288 horsepower.

According to the EPA, the 2027 Kia EV3 AWD can drive up to 280 miles on a single charge using the same 81.4 kWh battery pack.

Like the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 9, and Kia’s other electric vehicles, the EV3 is based on the E-GMP platform.

According to Kia, the EV3 with the standard 58.3 kWh battery can charge from 10% to 80% in 29 minutes using DC fast charging. In North America, all EV3 models come with a built-in NACS charge port, enabling drivers to use Tesla Superchargers without an adapter.

Inside, the electric SUV features Kia’s new interior design and ccNC (connected car Navigation Cockpit) with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The setup includes nearly 30″ of combined screen space, including a 12.3″ instrument cluster, a 12.3″ infotainment screen, and a 5″ climate display. With OTA updates, the system will continually improve with new features.

All EV3s come with standard i-Pedal 3.0 one-pedal driving, vehicle-to-load (V2L), and Smart Cruise Control (SCC).

Optional features include a 12″ head-up display (HUD) and premium 8-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.

After revealing the North American spec model earlier this year, Kia said the EV3 is an “entry-level EV SUV that offers many of the advanced amenities of the EV9,” just in a smaller and affordable package.

As a slightly larger alternative to the new Chevy Bolt EV and Nissan LEAF that is just as affordable, the EV3 will likely find its market in the US as well.
