New details reveal the Great Han, BYD’s upcoming full-size luxury electric sedan, will offer a driving range of over 1,000 km (621 miles). Here’s what else we know.
The BYD Great Han is a long-range flagship EV sedan
Just days after BYD released the first official images of the Great Han, or “Da Han” as it’s called in China, the full-size electric sedan appeared in the latest batch of vehicles approved for sale by China’s MIIT.
The Great Han is the first D-segment flagship sedan from BYD’s Dynasty lineup, which includes the Han, Song, Tang, and Yuan models.
Measuring 5,256 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,510 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,130 mm, the BYD Great Han is bigger than the Tesla Model S and Lucid Air. It’s about the size of the long-wheelbase Mercedes S-Class.
Both single-motor and dual-motor variants appeared in the filings. The former has a single rear-mounted electric motor, delivering 370 kW (496 hp). The latter adds a 200 kW (268 hp) front motor, for a combined output of 570 kW (764 hp).

Although battery specs were not revealed, the Great Han will be equipped with BYD’s new blade battery 2.0 and flash charging system, which will provide a CLTC driving range of up to 1,008 km (626 miles).
BYD is expected to launch the Great Han in Q3 2026, so any day now. It will go on sale as a sibling to the three-row Great Tang SUV.

After opening orders for the flagship electric SUV at the Beijing Auto Show in April, Lu Tian, the general manager of BYD’s Dynasty series, said that the Great Tang (Datang) had received over 100,000 preorders ahead of its official launch.
Since presale prices for the Great Tang start at 250,000 yuan ($37,000), the sedan is expected to start at about the same, or slightly less.
Like the SUV, BYD’s flagship sedan will be equipped with its latest innovations, including advanced safety and convenience features (given the LiDAR on the roof), a dual-chamber air suspension, 5-minute Flash Charging, and an over-the-top interior.
